What's It Gonna Be?

Times are tough, we all know.

Over here, your fearless blogger is beginning to wonder what's going to happen to his job. And there are times my beautiful fiancee and I seriously wonder if everything is going to come crashing down on us.

What can we do?

Well, for those of us who are more enterprising, I'd like to refer you to Mr. Jonathan Fields' site -- he's a former attorney who now makes his living blogging! I see him as a beacon in the wilderness, as I may need to follow his example to do what I love and stay alive. If you dodn't already see him in "Blogs I'm Following," definitely check it out at jonathanfields.com. Dude is amazing!

I have a job that leaves me sapped, and JB's career involves crazy hours and ridiculous commitments just to make the rent. Something has to give! I've known people who live like millionaires, and I've known people who are poorer than poor. Which will it be for us? We live in a really nice building in Jersey City, great view of Manhattan, close to everything -- we have to keep it!

I have already decided that if I lose my job (for whatever reason that might be), I will hit the ground running like a madman. I will e-mail resumes to every single job I see online, and I will find any type of "temporary" job there is available, no matter what it is, to bring in the money. Unemployment doesn't pay crap, for good reason!

In the meantime though, it would make me a little happier if there was a way to monetize these Google ads. Nothing's happening there . . . .

Bottom line, I have a life and I will defend it. Who's with me?

Something's Got To Give

I don't know, maybe it's the economy, but I'm starting to think that the American employee is an endangered species. It's only too easy for businesses to lay people off to cut costs in "this economy" -- and if you're on someone's s-list, it's even easier!

That's why, deep down, I want to become a professional blogger. Professional speaker, professional personality, someone who people listen to and are willing to pay to hear him! That's really what I've been after my whole life. I could do it not only for myself, but to set examples for others who want to experience a life's fulfillment. How many people can do that just slaving away at a job that will only dump you on your head when they get bored with you?!

JFK once noted that the Chinese character for "crisis" is the same one for the word "opportunity." I think this crisis is an "opportunity" for a new America -- for a new generation of idealists, thinkers, and entrepreneurs to change the world for the better. A chance to quietly dispose of the one we knew before, which brought us to this state of economic ruin, and to fearlessly build a new one!

No easy task, for sure, but it beats waiting for the old way to just kill us slowly. So let's all just throw those crying towels in the wash, and make this world better than it once was!
